Soothe Those Parched Puckers With Your Homemade Balm

Have your lips just had it? Has the heat and sun taken a toll on your kisser? Sometimes drugstore brand lip balms just don't do the trick. Many fail to provide enough moisture to heal cracked lips, while others are just a lot of fragrance and oil, and can lead to break outs around the mouth.

To avoid unsightly cracks and zits, why not make your own lip balm at home? Homemade lip balm has no preservatives, artificial colors, or artificial sweeteners. You can also personalize your balm to fit your needs exactly. Add sesame oil, shea butter, or cocoa butter to your homemade lip balms to ensure they are exactly what you need.

What You'll Need:
3 teaspoons grated unbleached beeswax; 5 teaspoons carrier oil (sunflower, castor, or jojoba) 6 or 7 drops essential oil of your choice (rose or lavender smell great!) 1 teaspoon honey

What You'll Do:

First, you will melt the beeswax and carrier oil in the top of a double boiler, making sure to stir well and blend. Remove from heat, then add honey and essential oil. Be sure to mix it all very well so that the honey does not clump. Now, pour the mixture into containers; let sit 30 minutes before moving or applying.
