What's The Difference?

On Friday nights we get together with the girls, doll ourselves up in short skirts and low cut tops  for a night out on the town, and just before we hail a cab we size each other up and say "You look so sexy!" while smoothing our hair.

When we get to the club we eyeball girls across the room who show up in similar outfits but twice the cleavage, three more layers of makeup, and and a collective air of bravado.  

They call themselves sexy too but from where we're standing, they're "slutty".So what's the difference? Are "slutty" and "sexy" interchangeable or worlds apart?

What it comes down to is attitude and confidence. The clothing is secondary to how it's worn and what your demeanor suggests when you wear it. Think about what men are attracted to and under what circumstances - they say a girl is "hot" when they view her in a sexual way, she may not be particularly attractive on any other day but they take note of her body when she puts it on display. When a girl looks "beautiful" she is showcasing more than her sexuality. From her hair to her shoes she is put together and looks good without being ostentatious        

You could say that sexiness lies somewhere in the middle. A woman can be sexy in a burlap sack if she chooses to be, because it's the way she carries herself that speaks volumes. It's in her mannerisms and personality. Now of course there are ways of dressing sexy and distinguishing it from slutty, and typically that involves being conscious of how much is too much. Moderation is key. If you're showing off a little leg, don't also show off a little shoulder and a little cleavage. The idea of selecting which body parts to expose for an outfit sounds silly, but it's important to always be aware of what's appropriate for your surroundings, how comfortable you're going to be, and  what image you're going for.

A "slutty" girl draws attention to herself with skimpy outfits because she wants her body to be the main attraction. A sexy girl knows she is the main attraction, in whatever she's wearing, and conducts herself accordingly. Walk bravely and speak with confidence and you will exude 'sexy' more than you ever imagined you could.
