It
happens all the time - you chip a nail on a martini glass, notice a zit
in the mirror at the mall or feel your curls falling out just minutes
after you leave the house. You're stuck with a beauty emergency and no
way to get your supplies! What do you do? Here's how to handle three
common beauty emergencies, no matter where you are, courtesy of
TotalBeauty.com.
1. You broke a nail. Whether you're a chronic nail-biter or a manicure junkie, nobody likes to break a nail. You're left with a rough, uneven surface that's scratchy and irritating, but if you don't have a pair of clippers on hand, there's not much you can do - unless, of course, you can find a matchbox. If you're at a bar or a restaurant, you can almost certainly get ahold of one. You can use it's its striking surface as makeshift nail file!
2. You get a zit. Getting a zit in the middle of a dinner date or a luncheon with your gals is a nightmare, but you can fix it in a flash by ordering an ice water with lemon. If you get a moment alone at the table, gently press the ice to your pimple to minimize the swelling. Then squeeze a drop of lemon juice onto it, which will dry it out instantly. By the time your date gets back from the bathroom, your skin will already be looking better.
3. Your hair starts to frizz. Humidity is the enemy of any good hairstyle, but it's unfortunately it's just a part of summertime. If you catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror and find that your one once-sleek style now looks like a giant bushy poof, don't panic - just grab some hand lotion. Moisturizer can function as hair cream in a pinch, so squeeze out a bit into your palm and smooth those frizzy flyaways.
