Successful makeup company MAC made a splash last year
when it recruited two celebrities to promote a new line of lipstick
dedicated to raising awareness for HIV and AIDS. Pop star Lady Gaga and
80s glam girl Cyndi Lauper joined forces to head the line, titled MAC
Viva Glam. Together, the musicians released their own lipsticks and
dedicated proceeds to HIV and AIDS research.
Now, MAC has its next two stars to help promote a new collection of products in 2011-12: Nicki Minaj and Ricky Martin. The singers recently joined forces and created an ad campaign for the new line in Miami, according to The Sun-Sentinel.
Minaj and Martin follow a long list of celebrities who have helped the cause throughout MAC Viva Glam's history - in fact, Fergie, Mary J. Blige, Christina Aguilera and RuPaul have all been Viva Glam ambassadors. To date, the project has raised approximately $224 million for HIV and AIDS research.
The latest products to be released by the MAC Viva Glam line by Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper were lipgloss versions of the original lipsticks, commonly referred to as "lip glass." The hues include a soft pink and a neutral beige.
