Looking for makeup products that won't just cover up your skin issues, but repair them? Here's what you need to look for.
If you're prone to oily skin and acne breakouts, you can calm your skin with a foundation or concealer that contains salicyclic acid. However, since salicyclic acid can be drying, it's important to tone down your other anti-acne routines if don't want to end up with a flaky face. Be careful not to apply too much of this product, either, since overdoing it on acne medication can actually make breakouts worse. A thin, sheer layer of foundation and concealer dotted over blemishes should do the trick.
To prevent or minimize wrinkles, look for anti-aging foundations. Since heavy makeup can settle into creases and make even fine lines look worse than they really are, it's important to find a product that won't settle into your wrinkles and look cakey on your face. Moisturize before you apply the foundation and always wear sunscreen to help prevent future wrinkles, too!
If you suffer from red, blotchy skin, a green-tinted primer is all you need. Swipe some on to minimize redness, and dot green concealer over pimples before applying makeup to make sure they won't show through your flawless foundation.
