Spring Fragrance Shopping: Daisy "Sticker" Limited Edition
Punxsutawney Phil may have poked his head out of his burrow on February 2nd, but I'm not convinced of his six-week prognosis. I resigned myself to the fact that I will remain firmly in the grasp of Old Man Winter until mid-April, easy. Happily, the season ended early this year with the arrival of Marc Jacobs' new perfume, Daisy Sticker. The limited edition fragrance is the ultimate combatant against the winter doldrums. Fresh, sunny and bright, this is truly spring bottled. When I removed the lovely green, vinyl flower bouquet cap, the scent smelled even more exhilarating than its predecessor. Proving that first impressions can be deceiving, I was shocked (but not disappointed) to learn the bottle contains the original make-you-instantly-happy formula.
Even better, Jacobs' newest offering comes with a packet of charming stickers to take the idea of custom fragrance to a whole new level. Add flowers, bees, dragonflies and various garden critters to your bottle to create a truly personalized experience. I went minimalist on the front of my masterpiece, opting for a single gold flower and one lone gold butterfly. I did create my own mini-Monet on the back with a 'rodents-in-love' mise en scène. (One gold and one red rat gazing longingly at each other, nestled in a grassy field, with a pink heart popping over their heads, natch.) On each side, a garden bursting with flowers, dragonflies and ladybugs. The exercise instantly took me back to pre-pubescent days of joyous rebellion: forgoing homework for the more pressing task of stickering my binders. It also brought home a long-forgotten childhood memory: collecting ladybugs in Blacksburg, Virginia when I was 7. My mom helped me puncture holes in the top of a makeshift plastic terrarium and I was set, spending many afternoons rounding up fat, red ladybugs until I had my own little farm of beauties. One morning I went to pay them a visit and they were gone. All of them. Foul play? Doubtful. Were those air holes simply too large? Absolutely not. I still to this day have no idea where all my good luck bugs went, but leave it to Marc to bring back those heady days of childish innocence and whimsy.
