Mac Rekindles Love Affair with Hello Kitty

Over the years, Hello Kitty and I have had an on-again-off-again relationship. I loved her with a passion as an 8-year-old, taking her to school in the form of a prized pencil box complete with HK pens, pencils, erasers and even the cutest little ruler. My fixation came back with a vengeance when I was struck dumb by a 3-story-high Hello Kitty doll in the window of Sanrio at Union Square in San Francisco. Dumbstruck, I gawped and stammered but words just couldn't begin to express my excitement. After more than a decade, I feel exactly the same way about Mac's new Hello Kitty collection.

The limited edition "Wild" and "Mild" Colour collection takes its sophisticated story from both the fantastical world of Hello Kitty and the glamour of the spring fashion shows. I love the graphic, black and pink design, and when I spied the limited edition purse mirror and keychain, I had to have my very own. Even though these particular items have sold out fast in the US causing a nation of women to weep, we here in Canada are able to still buy some of these products. Just barely though. Sadly, the keychain is now sold out, but I urge you to keep checking as their purse mirror (the more worthwhile of the two) is back in stock, as well as a stunning black pleather plush doll. Even more striking however, is their follow up collection, Hello Kitty Kouture, which includes the Sheer Mystery Powder compact featuring Hello Kitty outlined in white Swarovski crystals with a pink crystal bow. I'm struck dumb once again.
