The definition of luxury is changing - now it's about creating calmness. Modern executive travelers are going at such a rate that the last thing they want in a hotel is hassle. It's about people thinking for you so you don't have to ask for everything. Memorable places don't have to go over the top, the staff just shows they care.
Under the gifted guidance of Hotel Manager Delphine Elefante, Hotel Quintessence gets it right - truly friendly, confident, happy staff who cater for your eccentricities rather than deriding them. The lovely spa attendant noticed that I get a little light-headed after a cyclic afternoon of hot steam and plunges into the brisk, refreshing pool. She'd bring in delicious roast almonds from the bar for me to nibble on in between theraputic rituals. At a more impersonal hotel, I'd be left running up to my suite to rummage for stale airline nuts stuffed into my overnight bag.
As the top luxury Laurentian resort serving discerning sportsmen and cultural bon vivants, Quintessence offers soulful luxury - lavish suites, fine food & wine, a luxurious spa. Towering evergreens and lush landscaping surround a beautiful infinity-edge swimming pool overlooking the sublime lake. For me, luxury is aesthetic as well as physical. The calming, open lake views put me in such a serene state of mind. I highly recommend The Spa at Quintessence, and specifically the expertise of Beth, one of the best massage therapists I have ever encountered. One of the spa's specialties is in-suite service, which in the context of this hotel's suite design, results in spa nirvana. You can receive your treatment by a crackling fire, steps away from the comfort of your bed and bath. The bracing mountain air is the perfect setting for the restorative services of spa therapists providing massages, yoga or stretch sessions.
