From Yes to The Dress

You just got engaged and have a flood of emotions. Your life is about to change in so many wonderful and stressful ways. Planning a wedding can be extremely stressful depending on what sort of production it's going to be, your budget and whether or not you have a good support system in place.

Choosing a dress can set the tone for the whole affair. Do you envision yourself in a formal ball gown with a long train and a cathedral length veil? If so, a beach wedding probably isn't the best way to go.

Wedding dress shopping can be SO much fun! Here are some tips on how to wedding dress shop like a pro:

1. Bring friends - Girlfriends are much more fun to bring with you than your mom or his. Make sure to bring a friend who is honest with you and have good style.

2. Take pictures - Some wedding dress shops don't like you taking pictures while you try on dresses. Have your friend use a camera phone to take pictures without the sales person seeing if this is the case. You're going to try on SO many dresses, you're going to want pictures to remember how you looked in each dress.

3. Move around - Jump, dance, and most importantly, sit wearing the dress. You'll be wearing this for HOURS and you need to make sure you're going to feel comfortable in it while you dance, walk down the aisle and sit. Some dresses might have boning that make it hard to enjoy your special day so make sure you're comfortable in it.

4. Take Notes - Make sure you write down the style numbers, store names, and notes about each dress. Make sure to write down any cons about the dress. Maybe the beading is a little too busy, or there isn't enough lace. Sometimes you can take the dress to a seamstress and have them make those changes. If you have a picture of the dress and some notes you can bring that with you to a seamstress and get an estimate.

5. Listen to your Heart - You'll know when it's the right dress. It will be an aha moment for you. Listen to your gut and what your initial instinct about each dress
