Hot Las Vegas Food Festival Hits a Four Day Winning Streak

This past May, the top chefs in Las Vegas took to sin city's hottest kitchens to the ardent delight and sensory satisfaction of an adoring audience. Mark your calendars, Uncork'd is the annual American food festival not to be missed! Food pilgrims from across North America flew in for a jam-packed itinerary of inventive programming and more than a few surprise twists.

The 3rd Annual Vegas Uncork'd presented by Bon Appétit magazine, is one of the most exciting epicurean events WOMAN.ca has ever covered. After all, it's held in the Entertainment Capital of the World. Featuring Las Vegas' top culinary talentincluding celebrated chefs such as Daniel Boulud, Tom Colicchio, Todd English and Bobby FlayVegas Uncork'd is anchored by Bellagio, Caesars Palace, MGM Grand and Wynn Las Vegas.

It's an amazing congregation of culinary talent by any standards, but perhaps not much of a surprise. In the two decades since Las Vegas has dominated the indulgent art of the big gesture - be it nightlife, spectacle or live concerts - the Vegas food scene's rise to success has run parallel with the explosion in fine dining and the phenomenon of gastro-tourism. In what has been a golden age for the restaurant business, Vegas has become one of the most significant players in the culinary world, enthusiastically supported by diners, cooks and critics alike.

When nouvelle cuisine first appeared in the 1970s, there was a small tribe of restaurant goers and a an even smaller tribe of restaurant critics to notice. Today, Las Vegas chefs influence cuisine's most prominent trends, affecting an industry that starts in Michelin-starred restaurants worldwide and spreads through the ever-growing food media - lifestyle television, cook books, food magazines, not to mention a vast subculture of online chef-watchers. Uncork'd is born of inherent Las Vegas' pizazz, - where chefs exchange ideas, techniques and philosophy, and occasionally present manifestos.

If the goal of Uncork'd is to create an authentic foodie pilgrimage a bustling, lively and engaging atmosphere with a wealth of dynamic events, the organizers have certainly hit it out of the park. Boasting a spectacular collection of celebrity chefs and more master sommeliers than any other city in the country, Las Vegas is a true food and wine lover's paradise. Many of the world's top rated chefs have helped to shape Las Vegas as one of today's top culinary destinations and, despite the city's larger-than-life image, Vegas Uncork'd provides visitors an unique opportunity to mingle with and experience the cuisine of these world-renowned chefs in an intimate environment.

Vegas Uncork'd is a spectacular gathering of who's who in the food world, and Bon Appétit
magazine is delighted to once again have a hand in bringing it all together, said Bon Appétit
Editor-in-Chief Barbara Fairchild. Las Vegas is one of today's hottest culinary destinations and
this event creates a truly one-of-a-kind experience for visitors who want to mix it up with the city's
world-class chefs and some of the finest sommeliers in the country.

Highlights of the 2009 event include a pool-side Grand Tasting with 75 celebrated chefs and
vintners; intimate dinners hosted by preeminent chefs; a high-stakes culinary competition; afterhours blackjack; tour-de-force Masters Series dinners with internationally acclaimed chefs such as Guy Savoy; an exclusive culinary experience fused with the performing arts with Chef Joël Robuchon and the cast of KA from Cirque de Soleil; an all-star interactive luncheon with first-hand instruction from star chefs like Paul Bartolotta; immersion wine seminars and a gala evening featuring chefs such as Michael Mina.
