MMVAmazing!

Not even the scorching heat could keep fans away from the hottest event of the summer

Throngs of t-shirt wearing teeny boppers, in lipgloss and hysterics, hit Queen Street last night for the MMVA's in Toronto. This year was arguably a bigger spectacle than years past, taking both star power and surroundings to a whole new level. The Much Music Video Awards have long been considered the smaller, more modest, and less attractive cousin to the MTV Awards until now. Last night, the good people at Much pulled out all the stops Downtown, while the city was charged up all weekend long, fuelled by celebrity sightings and official pre-parties.

The best, boldest and brightest shining stars from both Canada and south of the boarder graciously accepted their invitations to this year's show. Hot-listers include The Jonas Brothers, who co-hosted, Lady Gaga, who won Best International Video for her song 'Pokerface', and Perez Hilton, of gossip blogging fame (who didn't leave with an award, but did leave with some cuts and bruises allegedly left by Black Eyed Peas' member Will.i.am outside the Universal Music party at Cobra. Juicy...).

The night was very much about glitz and glam, while the stars marched down the red carpet to the tune of thousands of screaming fans. Kelly Clarkson, Brody Jenner, Mariana's Trench, Drake, Nickelback, Classified and many others were in attendance this year, everyone looking their very best. Also dressed to impress were the Much Music VJ's, who manned the show with enthusiasm, and magnificent outfits to match. Good look, Sarah Taylor.

Nickelback took home the bulk of this year's honours, including Video of the Year, Post Production of the Year, and Muchloud Rock Video of the Year, and Black Eyed Peas took home Best International Video for a Group with their song 'Boom Boom Pow'.

Although Sunday night was the one to circle on the calendar, this whole weekend was worth booking off. In fact, many of the stars came to town early this year to take the city in. Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez crashed the Etobicoke High School Prom on Saturday night. Selena was the guest of honour at the premier party for her new film 'Princess Witness Protection' in the same place, the Liberty Grand. Once her own party began to slow down, she decided she would take a break, grab her best friend, Lovato, and make a room full of Etobicoke teensters go absolutely bananas.

'New Moon' star Taylor Lautner satisfied his craving for sashimi at Blowfish this weekend, while Lady Gaga and Rumer Willis danced the night away at Ultra on Friday, and Will.i.am rocked This is London on Saturday with The Pussycat Dolls.

This time, however, Will managed to make it through the night without battering a blogger.
