Should You Keep Him Close?
After every big break up, the question still remains: can you truly and safely be friends?
Many
of us seem to think that if we were good friends in the relationship,
we can continue to be so once the relationship is over?
Sure,
there is probably that couple, that one in a million couple, that canbreak up and can still stay best friends (you know like Ted and Robin
on How I Met Your Mother).
However,
in most cases (see: cases where kids are not involved) the only hope you have in getting over the ex, is to
distance yourself from them completely. Sure, you can be friends with
him again, in the future, wayyy into the future, somewhere down the
road when you are both completely over the relationship.
But for the
time being, when the break is still fresh, your best bet for getting
over someone is to totally omit them from your life. No calls. No texts.
It’s a tough call to make, but it’s the best one.
You can’t truly move on, until you’ve actually said goodbye.
