Life's not easy for interracial couples, but love is blind - and we don't always fall for people who have the same ethnic background we do. In fact, we would argue that interracial and inter-ethnic marriages are good for society in general, since they encourage cultural understanding and tolerance. But not all ethnic groups marry outside of their own race at the same rates.
Not surprisingly, white people of both genders are the least likely to marry outside their race - probably because they're a majority in much parts of Canada and the United States, making it easier to find people of the same race to date. Asian woman are the most likely to marry a man who is not of Asian descent, with more than 40 percent of them choosing a mate of a different ethnicity.
Overall, nearly one-third (30.8 percent) of Asians marry someone of another race, while 25.7 percent of Hispanics do, 15.5 percent of blacks and 8.9 percent of whites, according to the Pew Research Center. Are you in love with someone whose skin color is different from yours? Have you ever faced a hardship because of your relationship?
