There is a lot of work that can go into planning a vacation, especially if you are trying to plan on a budget. Luckily, there are many websites that promise to help you design your ideal trip all in one place and offer some great deals.

The Lonely Planet is a well rounded website with a lot of quality information to help plan an affordable vacation.  On top of all the great information on where to stay, eat and visit, this site also contains forums of helpful feedback from previous travelers.

This site is a great resource for planning a trip. It gives information about hotels, restaurants and attractions you will want to check out when you reach your destination. Frommers also has a sections dedicated to deals, which is a great page to watch if you are waiting to travel on a budget.

Trip Advisor is another terrific site for traveler’s reviews. Most hotels and resorts have a large number of reviews, and they are also ranked in case you are just interested in the overall rating. And in addition to have “over 40million trusted traveller reviews & opinions”, you can still look up hotels, flights, restaurants and things to do.

Hotwire lists flight, vacation packages, cruises and car rental information. But the best feature of hotwire is finding hotels. Hotwire allows you to get cheap deals on hotels, by selecting the general location and details of what you want in your hotel, but not allowing you to choose the specific hotel. So as long as you are not hung up on staying at a specific hotel chain, hotwire is a great resource.

You can’t discuss travel site without mentioning one of the biggest ticketing sites, Travelocity. This site offers a complete flight schedule and fare information so that you can be sure to find a good deal. It also has a listing of accommodations, activities, cars, and (my personal favourite) a section for Vegas vacations!

Taking advantage of the deals and reviews you can find on each of these sites is sure to allow you to have the vacation that you want, without breaking the bank.
