Canada's best beaches

altWant to hit the beach this summer? No need to book an expensive ticket to Southern California, Miami or Bermuda - instead, you can find some incredible beaches right here at home. Check out these three summertime hotspots to get a tan and hit the waves this year, no passport necessary.

1. Sauble Beach. This 11-kilometer stretch of pristine golden sand sits right on the shores of Lake Huron, only two hours from Toronto. Pack up the car for a day trip or book a cheap hotel room and stay the weekend - either way, you'll love the calm water of the lake, the glow of the soft sand in the sunlight and the warmth on your skin while you relax with a good book and a cool drink. Plus, it's the second-largest freshwater beach in the world - and the sun sets over the water every single night.

2. Singing Sands Beach. This unique getaway gets its name from the special singsong sound the land makes as beachgoers step along it - a natural wonder created by quartz buried deep in the sand. Located on Prince Edward Island, this beach is a couple's paradise. Call in sick from work and make it a three-day weekend ... we won't tell.

3. Grand Beach. Located about an hour north of Winnepeg, this lakeside paradise features warm, clear water that's sure to please even the pickiest swimmer. If you plan on getting your feet (or more) wet this summer, you can't beat Grand Beach!
