What to pack for your beach vacation

altWith baggage fees on many airlines soaring to unheard-of prices and space at a premium in your car, now's not the time to be bringing everything but the kitchen sink with you on vacation. Packing light is an art. Here's out list of what you absolutely must bring to the beach, and what you can leave behind before you hit the surf.

If you're headed to a tropical locale, forget the coats. Bring along one light sweater - we promise it's all you'll need. Fill your suitcase with shorts, dresses, beach cover-ups and bikinis, and leave those jeans and long-sleeved shirts at home.

When it comes to your makeup, you don't need to bring everything you own. The natural look is in at the beach, and heavy eyeliner and a face full of foundation will probably look overdone next to bare-faced gals sunning themselves on the sand. Pack a little concealer, a sheer powder foundation and your favorite lipstick and mascara and call it a day.

One thing to leave at home when you hit the beach? Your blowdryer. Most hotel rooms come equipped with one, but even if yours doesn't, the beach is the perfect place to embrace your natural waves or rock a casual updo. Leaving your hair styling tools at home will not only free up tons of space in your bag for those extra bikinis but also time to actually enjoy your vacay.
