Hit the slopes - without the snow!

Think you can only enjoy Whistler, Vail, Deer Valley, Jackson Hole, Alta and Telluride when the snow is falling? Think again. This summer, see your favorite mountain paradises in a whole new (sun)light by heading to the peaks long before the seasons change. You don't have to wait 'til winter to enjoy the beauty of the mountains - your favorite destinations are just as beautiful without the blanket of white. Here are a few activities you can enjoy sans skis.
1. Hiking. The landscapes of Wyoming, Colorado, Utah and British Columbia change drastically in the summer, so instead of taking in all that scenic beauty while you zoom down the mountain on a pair of skis, why not soak some up while you climb? Hiking is good exercise for the whole family and lets you get up close and personal with some of nature's most spectacular views. Trade in snow-capped pines for grassy fields and blooming wildflowers.

2. White-water rafting. When all that snow melts, it's gotta go somewhere - which causes the rivers throughout the American and Canadian Rockies to swell with whitecaps. If you're feeling just a bit adventurous, cool off by white-water rafting or kayaking along your favorite waterways. You'll get to see some of the most beautiful sights on Earth - and get a bit of that ol' adrenalin pumping.

3. Visit the National Parks. Both America and Canada are dotted with vast nature reserves filled with trees, geysers, waterfalls, lakes, cliffs and animals like buffalo, caribou, wolves and coyotes. Summer's the perfect time to take a walk - or even just a drive - through some of these spectacular areas with the whole family.
