An Odd, Yet Profitable Occupation In Canada

So, for years I racked my brain, trying to nail down the one job that would make me both happy, and successful. After trying my hand at many an occupation, I have come to the realization (with the help of a cover story from Toronto Life magazine) that perhaps my place in the employment world is as an escort.

Not a hooker. Not a call girl. But an escort.

It Pays Well
According to the article, the escort can make between $5 to and $8,000 a month. All that money for doing something that I want to do anyway. That's serious bank. For the escort in the Toronto Life article, an hour is $350, two hours: $700, and a whopping $2 600 for a night. I think I could handle a little sexy time with a stranger for $2 600 a night.

A Boyfriend, But Not Really
Did you know there are different kinds of escorts? I know, I didn't either. There are girls that focus on the PSE, or porn star experience, which is pretty much what it sounds like. Then, there are girls that focus on the GFE, or girlfriend experience. You chat, you get intimate, he takes you to dinner or lunch, he buys you things... but you don't have to tell him where you're going, who you're with or be monogamous in any way shape of form. That sounds like the PERFECT relationship.

Put It On Your Tax Return
No more hiding stacks of ill-gotten bills under the mattress since the laws changed in September to make life easier for prostitutes and sex workers. Now, they can legally claim what they do for a living. Not that you'd really want that type of thing on your record, but if the government gives back for it, hell. Why not, right?

Work From Home
Again, with the laws now in favour of sex workers in Toronto, girls have taken the game off the street and are now legally allowed to operate out of their homes without fear of reprisal. If you think about it, it'd almost be like ordering up nookie and having it delivered (most guys that frequent with escorts are married, so... their homes are out). This is great news for girls that used to hustle on the corner in sometimes freezing weather to make a dime. Sad news for those of us who would hang around the Church strip or Hooker Harvey's, hoping to catch a glimpse of those wandering beauties in their impossibly high heels (guilty).

And although all of the above listed reasons seem like reason enough to quit my day job, I have to admit that I'd take blogging over snogging any day.
