Save The Earth And A Few Dollars
When
it comes to you laundry, you have soaps the claim to make your whites
whiter, your brights brighter, your denim softer and make your skivvies
smell like waterfalls. Well, with so many choices out there, you can't
help but wonder:
Where are the one's that just, you know, clean your clothes?
With
the environment in such turmoil, homemade, eco-friendly products are
becoming increasingly popular. With a little extra time, and a lot less
money, you can make a clothing soap that not only cleans thoroughly,
but also keeps your lifestyle carbon foot-print free.
What You'll Need:
1 quart Water (boiling)
2 cups Bar soap (grated)
2 cups Borax
2 cups Washing Soda
What You'll Do:
First,
add finely grated bar soap to a boiling pot of water and stir until
soap is totally melted. If you prefer, you can keep the pot on low heat
until soap is melted. Then, pour the soap and water mixture into a
large, clean pail or wash bucket and add Borax and Washing Soda. Again,
stir well until all is dissolved. Finally, add 2 gallons of water, stir
until well mixed. Then, cover the pail and use 1/4 cup for each load of
laundry. So that the mix doesn't turn to gel, be sure to stir the soap
each time you use it.
