Looking for some simple ways to reduce your impact on the
environment that won't require a total life overhaul? Here are a few
ways to go green - without spending a lot of green.
First, reduce your water usage. Install low-flow showerheads and toilets, if you can, to reduce the amount of water your use in the bathroom - and don't lounge in the shower for 45 minutes before work. Don't leave the sink on while you brush your teeth, only run the dishwasher when it's full and pack the washer with clothes before you turn it on.
If you want to be truly green, you'll also need to watch your energy usage. Turn off the lights when you leave a room, and unplug your appliances when you're not using them (no more leaving your laptop on all day with the screensaver up!).
And when it comes to your commute, have you considering biking? If you can't get to work without a car, try carpooling - see if any of your friends want to share rides, so you don't clog up the roads and release lots of greenhouse gasses as you're driving to the office.
