Green Tips for Summer Skincare

Save Money AND Keep Your Skin Glowing this Summer!

We've all spent way too much on skincare products over our lifetime, so here are three ways to take care of your dermis with things we all have in our cupboards.

1) Sugar, use it as an exfoliant. Coarse white or brown. While I wouldn't recommend it for the face (can be quite abrasive) it works as a fabulous leg and arm scrub. Make sure you're sugaring and then soaping, or you might leave the shower feeling a bit sticky.

As a bonus, sugar can be used on chapped and peeling lips (that is, once they've finished hurting!). Just use a little bit of sugar and water and lightly, let me repeat lightly, scrub that extra skin off. Follow this scrub with number 3.

2) Honey, as a quick cleansing mask. Honey has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties and can help anything from blemishes to minor skin infections. Lather some o' that sweet nectar on your face, leave on from 2 to 15 minutes and wash off with warm water. Also check out this honey mask recipe.

3) Olive Oil, for both hair and lip moisturizing. Actually, to be fair, you can use olive oil for just about anything. Hands, skin, lips, hair, you name it. For any of the above use as little as you can. Too much olive oil in the hair will definitely leave you feeling greasy for a few days. Just apply, leave for up to an hour, and shampoo and rinse.

Another installment of very simple and cheap skincare ideas to come. In the meantime, enjoy.
