Ontario Peddles Towards a Green Province

This Sunday, June 28th, Ontario will unite towards the need for renewable energy sources. The "Ride For Renewables" is a bike marathon that encourages green advocates to cycle from the wind turbine at Exhibition Place to the wind turbine at the Pickering Nuclear Station.

The event is free, no sponsorship required, and aims to raise awareness about the dangers of nuclear energy and the benefits of clean renewable energy such as wind, solar and hydroelectric. The organizers are against the Ontario government's potential $26 billion dollar nuclear investment. Ride for Renewables goal is to see the province have a 100% renewable energy grid within the next 20 years.

Participants can sign up online at www.ontariosgreenfuture.ca. The event starts at 9:30 am this Sunday and finishes around 5:00 pm. Participants will be able to return to Toronto with their bikes on the GO Train and refreshments will be provided along the route!

This Sunday is the perfect time to show you care about our country's future, while getting some exercise and enjoying the beauty of Lake Ontario's shoreline.
