In case you thought Katie Couric was just another talking head on the evening news, she's been full of one-liners and meaningful tidbits that she's encapsulated in her new book, The Best Advice I Ever Got.
According to Glamour, Couric's masterpiece is a collection of pooled insight gleaned from dozens and dozens of interviews with celebrities who, we guess, are certainly in a position to be instructing us all on how to fulfill our destinies. Here's a good one, from Katie herself. "I'll never forget what a producer from Today wrote me just after I announced my move to CBS: A boat is always safe in the harbor, but that's not what boats are for. She's right: You have to get out of the harbor. The territory may be uncharted and the water choppy, but you'll be amazed at what you learn, especially about yourself."
In the spirit of self-discovery, ask yourself today how you can personally push yourself outside your comfort zone. This could be as major a thing such as a stint in Peace Corps or merely pushing yourself to get off your couch and walk to get your food, saving yourself further turmoil in lazy inertia and the delivery guy an extra run or two. We know we're lowering the bar with this example, but hey, every revolution starts with one small step.
