Maybe this isn't the right path to becoming a Skinny Bitch
Skinny Bitch is a healthy living book written by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin. Rory is a former agent for Ford Models, while Kim is a former model who holds a Master of Science degree in Holistic Nutrition.
At first the book looked fantastic. It was on the New York Times Bestseller list and it seemed to be filled to the brim with helpful ideas and tips about healthy eating. As I started to read the book I was taken aback by the amount of swear words littered across the pages. Call me old fashioned, but I believe that professionals who are serious about the issues wouldn't speak and write in such a questionable manner. But I shrugged it off as I agreed with most of the tips that these two girls addressed at the beginning of the book. I was literally hooked until I read the title for Chapter 4, The Dead, Rotting, Decomposing Flesh Diet and the subsequent chapter named The Dairy Disaster. Then I realized that the book wasn't about healthy eating, it was written for the sole purpose of convincing people to become vegan!
I have the greatest respect for people who are vegan and vegetarian. I was a vegetarian for two years before I came to the realization that I enjoyed eating meat. To be honest, I love meat, cheese and seafood. Unfortunately, the girls of the Skinny Bitch Diet make it seem that it's nearly impossible to look fabulous if you are a meat eating, cheese loving and alcohol drinking person. Other than preaching about veganism, it had no real information about healthy options for people who are non vegans. The book was literally useless for a person like me!
In the end, I had to put the book down. This diet is just a push towards a vegan lifestyle. I believe that people should be able to eat whatever they want without feeling that they are being judged for their food choices. There are many ways to be a Skinny Bitch. These authors are pushing a vegan diet and are alienating thousands of people who are looking for actual healthy eating tips that they can be easily adapted to their lifestyle. I love my meat and dairy. I really wish that Kim and Rory tried to address ways that I can still eat the food I love and be healthy at the same time.
My verdict? Skip it. There are so many other books out there that provide actual tips that you can adapt to your current lifestyle.
