Sprucing up a patio for fun under the summer sun

altSummer is the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the warm weather. However, it can seem like a relatively unappealing idea if you're outdoor space is less than fabulous. You know what we're talking about: old patio furniture, dim lanterns and the same bug repellent candle you've had out for two seasons.

Remodeling your outdoor space doesn't have to be a hassle. There are a few ways that you can quickly give your patio a face lift and make it the perfect space to entertain guests. First, position your patio furniture so that it provides a view for visitors. Nothing beats a glimpse at the setting sun so plan accordingly when placing your furnishings.

Next, consider installing overhead lighting if your patio or deck has a roof. Lanterns can provide ambient lighting, but they can become dated over time. Install LED rope lights or lamps that can be controlled via remote control for dimming purposes during a party.

Finally, don't underestimate the power of accent pieces. If your patio chairs look a little boring, add flair to them with a decorative throw pillow. Add a few Tiki torches around the deck for a unique take on lighting. These steps can help you make your deck the talk of the town.
