Decorating your backyard for a summer party

altSummer is the season for entertaining, especially as the sun starts to set and the temperature dips to a more comfortable level. Are you planning on throwing a soiree or two before the summer's up? If so, you'll want to utilize your beautiful backyard to let your guests enjoy the weather, the stars and the soft moonlight.

Your guests will want to snack as the evening goes on, so make sure to set up a table with plenty of finger foods for attendees to enjoy. A copper ice bucket filled with chilled beer is a rustic touch that your guests will be sure to appreciate when they discover that their bottles are empty and reach for something refreshing to heat the summer heat.

As for atmosphere, you'll need a little lighting. Tiki torches are an excellent way to bring a tropical vibe to your get-together, so set them up along the perimeters for some island ambiance. Don't forget about candles - pick up some that contain citronella to ward off mosquitoes and other summertime pests.

Finally, don't forget about the scents of summer. Whether you have a jasmine plant in your backyard or just want it to smell like you do, you can purchase a few bouquets of fresh flowers for decoration and a light, fresh fragrance that the summer breeze will carry to every corner of the party.
