Who Says Yoga Jewelry Has To be Made of Beads and Bamboo?
Not this designer! When Communications Specialist Dina Vieira earned her Yoga Instructor certification in 2005, she sought out a momentous "gift to self" to celebrate this personal milestone. Having dedicated so much positive energy into evolving her yoga practise, Vieira felt that marking this occasion was important. When she checked out the market for pretty yoga pendants, she was dismayed at the lack of imagination and quality.
In true serial entrepreneur fashion, Vieira struck out on her own and designed a line to suit this unique niche - yoga jewelry made with fine metals and ethical practices. And thus, her unique business was born with the best inspiration and intentions. Each piece in her luminous Om Jewels line is handcrafted in Canada, and part of the proceeds go to Canadian cancer research charities. "It's my way of giving back," Vieira tells me over lunch at Holt's Cafe. "Cancer has affected the lives of so many Canadians, this is an issue everyone can relate to."
"I founded Om Jewels to give women options in expressing their interest in the yoga lifestyle," she explains with a confident smile. "There isn't much on the market that's ethically made and fine crafted. I've ensured that each Om Jewels piece lives up to a high standard of craftsmanship."
She's designed a beautiful lotus pendant in both silver and 18K gold, with the option of choosing your birthstone to accent the design. Her pendants are also available with diamond accents. The classic Om pendant makes a beautiful gift for a graduating yogi or wellness enthusiast. It's a reminder that the power to heal lies in every human heart. And with perseverance comes peace.
Vieira is a designer worth introducing to friends as Om Jewels is a "social" experience - meant to be shared and appreciated by a growing community of wellness pilgrims.
