... But Ever Closer to Mom
As I am miles away from home, scurrying through Piccadilly Circus and Googling where to find homemade delicacies, I find myself not only missing my mother, but appreciating the little things she does everyday to make the lives of others more pleasant.
As I fight to get a seat on the tube during rush hour - contemplating what to gather for dinner, I find myself not only missing my mother, but salivating for her perfect way of preparing my favorite dishes timed with the moment I walk through the door.
As I am miles away from home, job hunting during windy mornings and rainy afternoons, I find myself not only missing my mother, but remembering her motivating words of encouragement and supportive tone.
As I hunt for live music and soak up art galleries, I find myself not only missing my mother, but appreciating her open-minded, creative and musical way of bringing up her daughters.
As I am miles away from home, having moments of loneliness, frustration and my usual embarrassing episodes, I find myself not only missing my mother but talking with her more than ever and discovering a friend, advisor and confidant.
Thanks Ma, I miss you but I'll Skype you in five.
