She plays Dr. Nikki Renholds, the fiery on-and-off-again ex-wife of P.I. Jake Doyle, on the CBC's hot new series Republic of Doyle. However, Rachel Wilson's tumultuous on-screen relationship with Allan Hawco (Jake Doyle) is a far cry from the low-key love she shares with Ben - her hubby of two years - in Toronto.
W: Whose personal style do you admire?
RW: My friend Jen Daubney, Communications Manager at Holt Renfrew. She always looks polished and put together without trying too hard. She understands simplicity and glamour. She pairs classic items with feminine pieces, and takes risks that are always subtle and fabulous!
W: Fave designers?
RW: Jules Power, Greta Constantine, Jeremy Laing, Marni, Tanya Martin (of Carte Blanche boutique in Toronto), Sienna & Savannah Miller's Twenty8Twelve line.
W: New projects upcoming?
RW: I'm currently shooting Saw 7, and mid-May will start shooting Not Over Easy - a Bravofact short directed by Jordan Canning.
W: What do you do to stay in such great shape? Any special diet or workout regime?
RW: I love to run, especially now that the weather is getting nicer, I find it meditative and an awesome stress reliever. I also love yoga and am so happy when I am practicing consistently...it is centering and great for your body and your brain. I also recently became a fan of the gym - because once I'm there I don't have any excuses to slack off and the collective energy is encouraging. I also work on avoiding too much sugar and wheat in my diet. I have recently learned to love vegetables and grains in a whole new wayOh and oatmeal. I love oatmeal!
W: Tell us a bit about the new season of Republic of Doyle. When does it start and what can fans expect?
RW: I don't know too much about it yet. Just that we are all very excited for the second season and are so happy people are tuning in and enjoying it!
