Angela Chen has become a budding new designer who has taken the fashion world by storm.
Although she was born in Taiwan, Angela spent most of her time growing up in Vancouver. She attended Parsons the New School for Design in New York, quickly climbing the ladder and becoming one of the top designers in her class. Since graduating she has worked with such designers as Anna Sui, Marc Jacobs and Carolina Herrera. She has also had the great pleasure of dressing a number of celebrities including Kristen Dunst and Chloe Sevigny. In 2010 Angela wowed critics by showing an amazing collection at LG Fashion Week. This summer anyone living in Toronto and Vancouver will be able to take another sneak peak at what this wonderful designer has to offer when she shows her collection at TELUS TaiwanFest 2010.
The festival itself will be held in Toronto (August 27th-29th) and Vancouver (September 4th 6th). Angela Chen will show her collection at Clash: The Battle of Elegance with two other Taiwan-based designers, Jasper Huang and Chiui Hsu. This fashion showcase celebrates the achievements made by these three success and talented Taiwanese designers.
This year's theme, Crossover was chosen to symbolize artists who continue to cross the international boundaries in design, says Charle Wu, Managing Director of the TaiwanFest. Angela Chen could not fit the bill more perfectly as she is a very talented up-and-coming, young, Taiwanese designer from Vancouver, from whom we expect many great things to come!
In reality Angela Chen is the first and only Canadian fashion designer that will be showcasing her collection during the festival. She is set to show her runway collection in Toronto on Friday, August 27 at 9PM on the Sirius Stage at Harbourfront Centre and in Vancouver on Saturday, September 4 at 8PM on the Vancouver Art Gallery Stage.
