This Fall, Bow Ties Are Not Just for The Gents

Forget about the groom, or that nerdy science teacher you had in high school. Bow ties are back, and this time, they're for ladies.

This striking new trend has been a long time in the making, what with androgyny on the runways becoming increasingly popular in the last few years. However, it's hard to separate this chic new menswear-for-women look from the unsightly Avril Lavigne look of a few years past. 

Not to worry though, this new style is anything but grungy or complicated. 

Adding a bow tie is a great way to charge up your look for both work or play. For a daytime style, try a light coloured bow tie or printed vintage bow tie, with a denim button down and a traditional trench, paired with pencil leg trousers and a pair of ballet flats to finish off the preppy look. For night time, make like Carrie in Sex and The City 2, styling up your own take on the traditional men's tuxedo.

Dig up one of your dad's old bow ties, or head to the men's department at Holt Renfrew - or for the more penny-savvy, H&M. Silk or cotton, these twisted takes on the man's go-to is simple, fashionable, and totally hot for fall.
