The Mayor of Venice Wants Bvalgari Ad Taken Down
When
we first saw the Julianne Moore for Bvalgari 2010 ads we were floored
by how amazing the 49-year-old actress looked. Slim, exotic, almost
regal as she lays strewn across a velvet chaise, draped in bags and
lion cubs.
The
response was overwhelming, and the ads have been said to be a hearty
chuckle in the face of ageism.
However, a group in Venice is apparently
not impressed. Venice's mayor Giorgio Orsoni says that the image is not
modest enough, adding that an advertisement showing a nude woman on a
divan is not appropriate for St Mark's Square!
In addition to the mayor's protest, The president of the Venice Foundation added:
I
take account of the fact that Venice is part of the real word but we
cannot accept these Hollywood-style images. There are intelligent
sponsors, and we need to come up with advertising that suits Venice,
not Times Square.
What!? Really?! We're totally perplexed by this. Aren't there naked bodies all over the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel?
I think Italy needs a reality check. Moore looks amazing!
