Famed Editors Are Honoured in Doll Form And Auctioned for Charity
Fashion's
Night Out, and event that was birthed in the wake of the North American
economic crisis as a means to breathe life back into the retail market,
is at it again for 2010.
And this year, there are even wackier gimicks
and products to be scooped up from the lucky locals who have the
privilege to take part!
In
honour of the event, and the women who have to effectively conceived of
and marketed it, Barney's New York has commissioned Brooklyn artistAndrew Yang to design hand painted dolls in the image of fashion
darlings Anna Winotur and Grace Coddington.
Yang
has said: "I had to special-order Anna's wig and cut it myself to get
the bob right. And Grace's hair was the right color, but it needed a
perm."
The
editor-like-dolls apparently took two weeks to make, with the artist
paying careful attention to detail - Wintour and Coddington wouldn't
have it any other way. The fashion powerhouses are clothed in couture,
and styled to perfection.
And, to boot, the Wintour and Coddington dolls will be auctioned off on charitybuzz.com on today! All of the proceeds will go directly to the NYC AIDS fund.
