Hot and Menacing

altWhen Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs, the ladies behind women's wear label Cushnie et Ochs think about spring', they think about what we would imagine to mean 'winter' dark, sheer, sexy.

That's because this design duo is not at all about convention, and totally about individuality. And who can't appreciate that? By passing on florals, pinks and yellows, these ladies have us just jonesing for June.

Using new proportions, bold designs and extreme-cut sihlouettes, they create something that's very wearable, no matter the season, really.

Cushine et ochs is no stranger to the press. They've been featured in nearly every hot spot - FLAUNT, Women's Wear Daily, Vogue, Town&Country, Surface, SHAPE, The New York Times, and MarieClaire. That's pretty impressive and worth mentioning, considering the designers are listed as new/up-and-coming' according to nymag.com Known to design for sex on sticks' [a la their staple of body-con dresses], the designers have made neutrals, sheers and leathers as the basis of their SS11 line, showcasing an ultra feminine take on grunge-glam.'

If Cushnie et Ochs was a woman, she'd be hot and menacing.

From New York, the line was founded in 2008, these women have been hard working and appreciative throughout their design careers. According to a post by fashionologie, Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs said that without that $25,000 Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Award, "there's no way we would have been able to secure a spot at the New York Public Library for their show." They continue to execute their talents and business-savvy, while never undermining themselves and staying true to their woman. Sexy, smart and cool. Cushnie and Ochs do it effortlessly.

Born in Toronto, Hilary Lauren Fox is an only child to artist parents - mom was an illustrator and pattern maker, dad was a painter.  Rather then studying the arts as her parents hoped for, Hilary opted for a degree in psychology with dreams of working in a clinical setting. But after graduating she realized that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree and that the arts was in her blood, applying her education within the art and fashion world.
