Spring Summer 2011 Collection

Is it possible to succeed in fashion when you don’t like Kate Moss?

This is a question that designer Matthieu Lapierre seeks to answer, with his t-shirt line, LICKMYLEGS. Based in Paris, France, Lapierre has been on a quest to pose and ask questions that explore both the absurd and simple aspects of what fashion means.

Since the start in 2009, and with each progressive collection, some questions remain constant; For example:

- What is the difference between a good concept and another provocative idea?
- Is it possible to look cool without wearing a Ramones t-shirt?
- Is pubic hair the ultimate taboo?
 - Is fashion the right industry for asking all these questions?

Lapierre employs many artistic mediums and techniques in his line. Photography, ‘photo camera’, computer, screen prints, digital prints, jersey, silk, leather and everything printable.

For AW 2011, LICKMYLEGS presents a new and exciting collection, in exploring digital print techniques by extending the collection to silk tops, dresses, and scarves: ‘more magic and sexier than ever.’

Lapierre is influenced by many things; Bruce la Bruce, Claude Lévêque, Le Caravage, Suicide,  playmates from the 70’, Berlin, The Fabulous Golden Showers, fishnets, Paul Morrissey, and Youri Lagerfeld.

The result is a new kind of graphic on very soft t-shirts. Full of that French je ne sais quoi, LICKMYLEGS tees can be dressed up as easily as they can be parred down. Heels or flats, LICKMYLEGS looks good on you.

Not all details or photos have been disclosed for AW11, but be sure to check out the LICKMYLEGS SS11 photos on their website. You can find LICKMYLEGS in Europe, Asia, America [CARTE BLANCHE 758 QUEEN ST. W TORONTO - CANADA - ] and online: WWW.ANTECEDENS.DE

Lapierre’s LICKMYLEGS makes you think about fashion’s place in the world, and how through designing a something simple as t-shirts, he can reach a wide audience, to start a discussion.  Or perhaps it’s just a bit of good fun, meant to be comical. “i.e. Is it possible to succeed in fashion when you don’t like Kate Moss?”

Stay sexy and magical.

About the author:

Sometimes she's a redhead, sometimes she's a blonde. Some days it's H&M, and on other days, it's Chanel. What ever the mood, she is a woman who is passionate about the arts, fashion and social media. Born in Toronto, Hilary Lauren Fox is an only child to artist parents - mom was an illustrator and pattern maker, dad was a painter.  Rather then studying the arts as her parents hoped for, Hilary opted for a degree in psychology with dreams of working in a clinical setting. But after graduating she realized that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree and that the arts was in her blood, applying her education within the art and fashion world.
