We Dig!
Early last week, Canada's favourite bad boy of fashion – Mark Fast – unveiled his FW 2011-12 collection at London Fashion Week, and he teamed up with the leather mavens at DANIER to create it.
It's an unexpected combination of Fast's ability to wend knitwear into shapes that defy gravity with the decades of experience with leathers behind the DANIER creative team.
"Working with DANIER has been a really fantastic journey. This collaboration has allowed my label to grow leaps and bounds. DANIER has been around since I can remember and to be connected with a brand of such high quality, inspires my mind of its limitless possibilities," Fast said.
Even without the introduction of the exquisitely crafted leather pieces, Fast's collection is simply stunning – introducing a whole new nuance to his repertoire, neutral palette of skin-hugging pieces are an exercise in masterful craftsmanship. It's really the intricate attention to detail and totally feminine silhouette that keep him ahead of the curve.
And for DANIER to align themselves with a rising star like Fast is a genius move – not only does it offer an insane opportunity to put the household Canadian brand on the international fashion map, it really goes a long way to help re-imagine the sometimes not-so-fashion forward line as something that has the potential to hit the main stream in covetable street wear and keep on running.
“Working with a designer of Mark's calibre and vision has been an exciting exercise for the DANIER design team,” said Olga Koel, Executive Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer for the brand. “Mark knew what he wanted and insisted on beautifully executed, luxurious leather pieces. His approach to design was focused and clear making execution effortless.”
And get ready for it, because this collaboration is proving more fruitful – this fall, DANIER will be releasing another, exclusive, small capsule collection inspired by Fast's LFW presentation, which will be available by order and at select retailers across Canada. Excited yet? You should be.
