Consider the one-piece

altPlanning on hitting the beach this summer? You'll need a new swimsuit. And while you might be thinking that your only option is that barely-there bikini that all your peers are sporting, we're here to tell you that that's simply not the case. In fact, the one-piece is enjoying a bit of a vogue right now - and here are a few reasons why you might want to consider picking one up this summer.

First, one-piece swimsuits can be just as stylish - if not more so - than their two-piece counterparts. With one-shouldered, strapless and cutout varieties available, there's a one-piece for everyone. Pick a unique modern design, or channel your inner pin-up with a '50s-inspired vintage bathing costume. Ironically, rockin' the modest look will probably win you more attention than that boring old bikini everyone else will be wearing.

One-piece swimsuits also have health benefits. Since less of your skin is exposed to the sun, you're less likely to incur sun damage - which could lessen your risk of deadly diseases like melanoma.

Not ready to commit to a one-piece? Consider a "mono-kini" - a creatively designed one-piece swimsuit with cutouts that make it resemble a bikini.
