Would you be more inclined to shop in a store if the
mannequins weren't headless and posed in unnatural positions? Would more
interesting mannequins inspire you to take your business to a new shop,
or return to an old favorite? Retailers are banking on it - which is
why lots of them are investing in new storefront models.
According to The New York Times, the traditional smooth, white mannequin is falling out of favor. Retailers are now opting for mannequins with a little more visual intrigue - like ones with muscles, famous faces, unusual poses and more realistic bodies.
This is welcome news for those of us that have seen clothes draped over an impossibly skinny mannequin and thought, "That outfit would never look that good on me." With the new models, you can have a more realistic idea of how great clothes might look on your unique body type. Plus, with mannequins posed in more lifelike positions, you can imagine how those cute running shorts might look when you're actually working out.
What do you think? Would a new mannequin inspire you to try out a new store?
