Swimming is not just a fun way to exercise, it is considered one of the safest and most effective forms exercise available.

For starters, it requires you to use every muscle and body part, making it a great overall workout. Water also creates more of a resistance than on land exercise, so you will be working a lot harder than you realize. As a result, your major body parts need to exert more power to complete a work out which will help develop your muscles to be stronger a lot faster.

Even though there is more resistance to work against in the water, swimming is a great workout that will get your heart rate up without applying a lot of stress to your body. Injured athletes often use swimming to help get them back into shape. The body is supported by the water so there is little impact with each movement.

Swimming is also a great cardiovascular workout. It increases your heart rate and stimulates circulation in order to deliver sufficient oxygen to the working muscles. The combination of cardiovascular workout and the resistance training help reduce body fat, increase muscle tone, and supply you with a great overall workout.

Clearly swimming is a great muscular, cardiovascular and respiratory workout.
