Think you need to hit the treadmill for two hours to get a good workout? Not so! For an easy, low-impact way to shrink your waistline and improve your fitness on those days when you just can't be bothered to go to the gym, go for a walk! There are lots of easy ways to incorporate more walking into your lifestyle. If you need to run an errand, before you whip out the car keys, think about how far your destination is. It's probably walkable! If you need to pop in the convenience store for some dish soap or pick up your clothes at the dry-cleaners up the block, try walking there instead of driving. If the weather's nice, you'll get a great mood boost from the sunshine, too!
If you've got a dog, make him your workout partner. He won't mind more walks, we promise! Invite a friend and take the dog around the neighborhood once or twice a day for an easy and fun workout.There are small ways to spend more time walking, too. Park further away at the mall, and take the stairs instead of the escalator.
