Your new summer exercise routine

altThe weather is beautiful and the sun is shining, so forget about that gym membership and get outdoors! Exercising in the fresh air is good for your mind, body and spirit, and when you try these fun activities, it won't even feel like a chore. Here are three ways to get in shape this summer, without shelling out tons of money for a personal trainer.

1. Jogging. Running is one of the easiest and best ways to get in shape, so don't forget about it! If the temperatures are too high in the middle of the day to go for a jog, try getting up early and running before everyone else is even awake. You'll love the calm and quiet of the early morning hours. Not a morning person? Try running at dusk - just be sure to make it home by dark, or stay in well-lit areas so you don't put yourself at risk.

2. Hiking. Explore the great outdoors by hiking this summer! It's a great way to get in shape and see some of Mother Nature's most beautiful scenery. Pack up the car and head to a faraway destination for a glimpse at some flora and fauna that's totally unlike what you find in the backyard.

3. Swimming. The high temperatures make this a perfect time of year to take up swimming! This high-intensity, low-impact sport is the best overall workout there is, and it won't strain your joints, either.
