The Drake Hotel Hosts 'A Taste of Iceland'

Thermal springs, designer fashion and Bjork - there's a lot to like about Iceland. Discover more about the nifty nation when The Drake Hotel hosts A Taste of Iceland', a 3-day festival featuring music, film, food and art from Iceland's hottest stars.

In the kitchen Chef Thor, from Reykjavik's famed Orange Restaurant, teams with The Drake's Anthony Rose to present a four course prix fixe menu featuring deconstructed twists on classic Nordic nosh. Gourmets can enjoy langoustine (Norwegian lobster) and reindeer whilst whetting their beaks with Icelandic-inspired cocktails like the Blueberry Geyser. Plus all dinner guests get the chance to win a trip for two to Iceland!

On Thursday the Cumberland Theatre will be hosting a free evening of Icelandic cinema, showcasing the work of Valdis Oskarsdottir's improvised comedy Country Wedding and Oskar Jonasson's Reykjavik Rotterdam, a gritty thriller about to be re-made in English with Mark Wahlberg.

Saturday night one of Iceland's biggest music acts Mugison brings his mix of rock, pop and folk to the Drake Underground in a show destined to get you on the dancefloor. After the set be sure to check out the work of Shoplifter, the Icelandic artist whose work has been featured at MOMA and this week debuts her installation piece Haunted at The Drake.

And for those itching to see the real thing don't fret - Icelandair have just launched non-stop flights from Toronto to Reykjavik. Iceland's never been closer!
