The Best Ways To Put Leftover Candy To Use

Now that you've dealt with all the chaos of keeping an entire neighbourhood entertained and well fed with enough candy to sink the Titanic, you're still likely to have a few bags left over. After all, it's hard to keep track of the increase and decrease of Trick-or-Treaters every year and as they say, better too much than not enough! But the idea of all those cavity inducing sweets sitting in your cupboard waiting to be rummaged through during a midnight craving is making you cringe. So what should you do with it? Here are a few ideas!

Make a stash - For occasional snacks and desserts every now and then (or a reward after a bad day) find a secret safe place to keep a few packages you can retrieve in the event of an "emergency".

Recipe add-ons - Candy can always be thrown into the mix for a good party platter or baking recipe! For a decorative garnish or maybe a candy bar cake frosting, you can use your leftovers for holiday parties in the coming months.

Donations - Charities are already starting to arrange boxes and baskets of goodies for under privileged children around Christmas time. Locate the nearest community centre, church, or shelter and send a few bags over.

Stocking Stuffers - Most packaged candy is okay to last a couple of months, so to save time during the frenzy of gift shopping, save some candy to stuff the kids' stockings with. You might want to ditch the Halloween themed stuff, though.

Freeze - Overloaded with chocolate? Stock your freezer for future baking sprees!
