The foods of love

altMost of us have heard the rumor that a plate of raw oysters can help put you in the mood, but is it true? Are there really certain foods that can help rev up your sex drive and put the spark back in the bedroom for you and your guy? Yes and no.

Part of the allure of aphrodisiacs is probably psychosomatic, which means that they work because we expect them to. So let's go ahead and assume that these superfoods, commonly considered to be aphrodisiacs, really do help you get psyched in the bedroom. Caviar, which is high in zinc, is often cited as a romantic snack. Not only will this expensive treat have you feeling like a star, it'll also get your guy's testosterone levels up - helping him perform later. Bananas are only also food often linked to male virility, and not just because of their suggestive shape. Bananas contain an enzyme called bromelain, which may enhance male performance. Another fruit, the fig, was often celebrated in Greek rituals of fertility and reproduction - so snacking on this delicious delicacy could be a real treat for you and your man.

Truffles are often considered an aphrodisiac, probably because of their rarity and delicious earthy taste. Chocolate is another well-known sexual stimulant, which can help relax you and lower inhibitions. And, of course, the most famous aphrodisiac of them all: alcohol. Just be sure not to over-imbibe, which can seriously hinder your performance.
