A New iPhone App Rates Your Looks
We all have days when we wake up late, roll out of bed, and scramble to grab any outfit that doesn't have coffee stains. We leave the house on those days knowing that know we're probably not looking our very best. On days like this, an ego boost is in order.
For iPhone users, Apple has introduced a new app that may be your self esteem's best friend or worst enemy - it's called "Ugly Meter". Designed to analyze images captured on the iPhone, Ugly Meter determines whether you're beautiful or beastly. Working on a 1-10 scale, 10 being the least attractive and 1 being a score of physical perfection, the "Ugly Meter" will let you know just how you're looking that day.
When your friends won't tell you the truth, the Ugly Meter will, boasts the website and developers, who call themselves the Dapper Gentlemen.
But wait. Before you consider "Ugly Meter" a serious measure of aesthetic beauty, take note of the fact that the reviews of celebrity looks have been less than stellar.
Apparently Brad Pitt is an 8, two points away from extreme ugliness while results for Angelina Jolie and George Clooney varied by photo. User reviews so far have reported inconsistency with the app, pointing out that the majority of the time photos of movie stars or otherwise attractive people are rated "ugly".
Ugly Meter is ranked seventh among the top applications in Apple's entertainment category, and the download is 99 cents. Software developers are hinting that the app is all in good fun and intended as more of a joke than anything, so take the Ugly Meter at face value.
