We weren't aware that cell phones were gender-specific, but apparently some people are seeing a niche market for women who want mobile devices that are specific to their needs. According to tech site This Is My Next, HTC is considering launching a phone aimed specifically at female users. The tentatively-named HTC Bliss Android Phone is designed to attract more women to the brand, as the ladies currently make up only one-fourth of Android-based phone users, according to a February 2010 study. The phone, if it ever sees the light of day, is (shockingly!) not pink - it's greenish in color, much like the Android logo.
"We don't know much about what version of Android this will be running, but our source did tell us that the mockups had shopping comparison and calorie counting apps - you know, because every woman watches the pounds," jokes the source. All kidding aside, there is one supposed feature we think would make an excellent addition to any phone: the " charm indicator." This cube-shaped device will come with a hook that allows it to be attached to your purse or bag, so you don't have to fish through a massive tote looking for your phone. The indicator will also light up when you get texts or calls. We don't know about calorie-counting apps, but finding a phone in your bag is honestly a hassle - gotta hand it to HTC on that one. No release date has been set for the phone, which may be quite different when it finally hits the market - after all, the source reminds us, this is all just hearsay.
