Now who gets custody of the church?

After 28 years of marriage Mel Gibon's wife Robin has filed for divorce. The reason for the split is noted on the paper signed April 9, 2009 as "irreconcilable differences."

Depending on the alcohol consumption of Mr. Gibson this divorce could get messy as no prenuptial agreement was signed. The actor and his soon to be ex-wife reside in California which is a 50/50 state when it comes to issues of separation. In 2006 Mr. Gibson was reportedly worth an estimated $900 million, which will be split down the middle according to California law.

The date of separation has been left with nothing more than a to be determined, as in most cases earning tend to stop being a joint affair when a separation begins.

The mother of Mr. Gibson's seven children is seeking spousal support, attorney's fees along with joint physical and legal custody of their only legal minor son Tom.

Backing up the soon to be ex Mrs. Gibson is legal guru Laura Wasser who helped Brittney Spears with her divorce from back up dancer and father of her two children Kevin Federline.

Although break up rumours have been swirling around this couple for the past few years, Gibson's reps have been quick to dismiss the allegations. This time with legal papers filed and a divorce on the horizon there is no fooling anyone to thinking the couple is still enjoying family vacations and marital bliss.
