Wacko's Collection is Off the Wall
Plagued by legal bills and flagging album sales, King of Pop Michael Jackson breaks another record by holding the largest, and certainly the strangest, garage sale in history.
Former department store Robinsons-May in Beverley Hills has been converted into a makeshift Neverland, with over 1300 lots of Jackson's personal effects going under the hammer next week. The public get to gawk for a $20 admission fee.
Weird and wonderful items of Jacksonia include life-size statues of ET and Peter Pan, portraits of Jackson as a nobleman, a carousel signed by the other ET Elizabeth Taylor, rhinestone encrusted socks and, of course, the gloves. Covered with "Swarovski loch rosen crystals" these mitts are expected to fetch upwards of $15 000.
But you don't have to be a smooth criminal to take home a little piece of Michael,
with many items such as letters and photographs listed at under $1000. The entire 900-page catalogue is available online at juliensauctions.com where the frenzied bidding has already begun.
But get in quick, apparently The Gloved One has seller's remorse and is trying to moonwalk his way out by blocking the sale.
The Wacko Jacko Auction runs from August 22 25.
