Ellen Pompeo's Prognosis: Pregnant

All Those Anatomy Lessons Finally Paid Off

Baby bottles, nappies, stat!

Meredith Grey's anatomy is expanding; star Ellen Pompeo has a McBun in the oven.

"It's great news. They're ecstatic," says her rep Jennifer Allen.

This will be the first child for the Grey's Anatomy star and music-producing hubby Chris Ivery. He's doing what any good house husband should do, setting himself up for alimony and child support payments if things should ever go downhill. The couple got hitched in 2007.

There must be something in the water. Pompeo, who's recently been spotted shopping for baby gear around Los Angeles, is not the only Seattle Grace doctor having a baby in real life. Costar Chyler Leigh, who plays Ellen's onscreen sister, Lexie Grey, is expecting her third child, a girl, in May.

Producers managed to keep Chyler's baby belly disguised, but with the show wrapping soon for its summer hiatus, it's unlikely Pompeo's pregnancy will need to be written into TV storyline or have her walking around with charts in front of her belly in every scene.

Though with her super skinny frame they could probably pass it off as just a really big meal.
