Cannes Film Festival: Diane Kruger's A Shrinking Violet

Retiring Style
Normally so high fashion, Diane Kruger goes past glam straight to geriatric in an ivory print Marchesa gown with silver floral embroidery that would be totally appropriate on a retired socialite in Boca. Or a sofa.

We appreciate that at least she is never boring. And we do enjoy how very FANCY it is, like something you'd see on the protagonist of a BBC adaptation of a Russian spy novel about murder, affairs and old money. There's something to be said for that, after all.

But with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt getting all the attention, it's probably best to keep the daring looks in the closet for when less bold-face names are competing for pages in InStyle and just hope your dress is clean, stain-free and flash-bulb proof. And hey, at least Diane's hair and makeup are fab.
